DigiDude, our cyber correspondent, was present at the Jerry Springer chat/interview on Real Hollywood, January 8th 1998. The chat was great. Let's first explain you how the chat worked.
First you had to login on the Real Hollywood site. Then you entered a chat room (text). You could type in your question with a certain command, and then your question was given a number. When the chat with Jerry Springer started, Real Audio was launched, and you could actually
hear Jerry Springer!
Questions were asked to Jerry by the speaker of Real Hollywood. His answers were also translated to text in the chat (probably for those who didn't have a browser supporting Real Audio). Not all questions were asked to Jerry, but some were. And one of the questions came from us (asked by DigiDude, our cybercorrespondent).
DigiDude asked 'What did you think of the dutch talkshow you were in when you visited holland, compared to yours?' Jerry Springer answered: 'I was on a talk show in Holland - Im trying to think of the name. Anyway, they were much more conservative in the talk show than we are. The SOCIETY isn't. Being over there, it's far more open. But their television is far more conservative. We are clearly the most outrageous show in Holland. Their television is like ours was in the 50s or 60s... VERY conservative - very non-controversial. Which was fine. It just wouldn't work in our culture - but it is for them there.'
